One fact about the wedding industry that is widely-known is that sometimes, your venue is the most expensive part of the occasion. Not every bride and groom have the budget for a high-end event, but that doesn’t mean you should have to sacrifice amazing views and a warm, inviting atmosphere to make your day special.
Chapel Dulcinea, located just 20 minutes from downtown Austin, became the first FREE wedding chapel in the world in 2005. Sitting at the end of an ancient walking trail on the grounds of the Wizard Academy (a Marketing school. No Harry Potter Wizards here, unfortunately), it’s the perfect location for elopements, or intimate wedding ceremonies.
The chapel itself accommodates 12 guests sitting, 35 standing, and an additional 60 while viewing from the extended patio area. With your reservation, you will have access to the chapel, the Spence Diamond Pavilion and the bride and groom rooms, which can be accessed 30 minutes before the ceremony begins. While there is no formal reception area, newlyweds are able to hold a small cake-cutting ceremony or champagne toast at the Spence Diamond Pavilion if they choose to do so.
After your “I do’s”, you are encouraged to ring the chapel bell with your new spouse! This signifies the start of your new chapter in life, as well as another couple married at the chapel. While the chapel is available for all types of events, Friday, Saturday and Sunday are reserved for formal marriage ceremonies only. If you wish to hold a vow renewal, christening or any other type of special event, you are more than welcome to do so Monday-Thursday!
In my personal experience, this location may be small, but there is no shortage of beauty to be seen. The views are absolutely breathtaking, and make for the perfect backdrop on your special day. Feel free to visit their website for more of their unique history.
