Weddings often have the ability to transport us to places we have never been, in ways we have never seen. Some take you to enchanted forests, snow covered mountains, or romantic private beaches. Star Hill Ranch launches guests back in time, to a quaint 1900’s Texas Hill Country community. With 22 historic structures all constructed between 1850 and 1935, it’s hard to remember that you’re really in the 21st century. Located just 25 minutes from downtown Austin, all the buildings on the ranch have been brought in from around the state, and restored to their full, authentic glory.
I have seen quite a few weddings take place at Star Hill Ranch, and all have been uniquely magical. While the historic buildings offer a nostalgic atmosphere, each couple is able to make the space as traditional or modern as they wish.
For a more traditional ceremony, there are two chapel options to choose from. The Little Chapel seats 125, and is perfect for elopements or more intimate gatherings. The Large Chapel lives up to its name, with two different areas seating 180 or 300 guests. The Large Chapel originates from Pontotoc, TX and was built around 1899. It has a functional bell tower, period lighting and original pine floors. For an outdoor ceremony, the Arbor, a park-like outdoor setting nestled among gorgeous oak trees, seats around 500 guests.
Star Hill Ranch also offers plenty of options for a rehearsal dinner or reception. The Reception Hall, a Converted school constructed near Willow Springs, TX, was originally built in the early 1920’s, and seats over 200 guests. It has large open indoor spaces, as well as a 1300 square foot covered verandah with lawn seating. The Fitzhugh building, originally used as a community center built in 1914, seats over 300. For a unique dining experience, the Main Street area can seat over 500, and is beautifully lit with overhead carnival lighting. It’s the perfect location for dinner, outdoor games and dancing the night away under the stars.
Couples that are married at Star Hill Ranch are able to take advantage of the Bride’s Cottage and Groom’s Quarters, as well as their catering kitchen, designed to accommodate the professional catering company of your choosing. The Bride’s Cottage is a Bee Caves area house, built in 1910, and given as a wedding present in 1917. It is still authentic to this day, so your bridal party will be able to use its full kitchen, bath, living and dining spaces. The Groom’s Quarters is a Bee Caves area post office, built around 1873. Fully equipped with an antique bar and saloon tables, it’s the perfect space to have some pre-ceremony fun.
